Mastercard at Platiin
On the casino side, a Mastercard deposit looks almost identical to any other card payment: number, expiry, security code, confirmation in your banking app. The differences that matter are on your side of the card — what kind of Mastercard you hold, how your issuer codes gambling transactions, and what that costs you. This page focuses on those questions, then covers payouts and how a card deposit fits into bonus terms. Which card types the cashier accepts for your account is shown there.
The set of methods and the limits depend on your account — check the cashier.
Debit, credit or prepaid: three different cards
| Card type | What it means for gambling payments |
|---|---|
| Debit Mastercard | spends money already in your account; easiest to budget; most likely to receive payouts |
| Credit Mastercard | may be coded as a cash advance with extra fees and immediate interest; in some places not allowed for gambling at all |
| Prepaid Mastercard | may work for deposits; often cannot receive payouts and can be excluded from bonuses |
If you are unsure what you hold, the card itself usually says "debit" or "prepaid"; otherwise your bank can tell you.
The cash-advance trap
Card networks give gambling merchants a specific category code. Some issuers treat payments with that code like withdrawing cash from an ATM on a credit card: a fee per transaction and interest from the first day, without the usual interest-free period. A worked example (example in euros; the maths is the same in any currency): three deposits of €50 on a credit card with a 3% cash-advance fee and a minimum fee of €4 per transaction cost €12 in fees before a single spin — and interest on top until the balance is repaid.
Worked example — not a Platiin term. The fees come from your card issuer, not the casino.
Payouts to a Mastercard
Whether winnings can be paid back to a card depends on the casino's cashier and on your issuer. Many cashiers refund card deposits to the card and send any amount above that by bank transfer. Debit cards receive refunds more reliably than prepaid ones. Expect a card verification request before the first payout: a photo of the card with the middle digits covered and the security code hidden.
Chargebacks are not a refund for losses
A chargeback asks your bank to reverse a card payment because it was unauthorised or the service was not delivered. Using it to recover gambling losses typically leads to the account being closed and can be treated as a breach of the terms. If you are worried about how much you deposit, the better tools are a deposit limit or self-exclusion — see responsible gambling.
Card deposits and the bonus maths
A card deposit is often a qualifying method, so the bonus opt-in appears in the same screen. Two numbers decide whether to tick the box: the base of the wagering (bonus only, or deposit plus bonus) and the max bet while the bonus is active. A €70 deposit with a 50% match and 30x wagering on deposit plus bonus means €3,150 to wager; at a €2 max bet, that is at least 1,575 bets before anything is released.
Worked example — not a Platiin term.
Our bonus terms guide explains where the max-bet clause sits; the wagering guide shows the full calculation.
Alternatives
If your bank blocks gambling transactions or charges cash-advance fees, an e-wallet such as PayPal or a bank transfer may be the cleaner route. For a straightforward card deposit, Visa works in much the same way. The overview is on the payments page.
