Promo codes: the key matters less than the door it opens
A promo code — or bonus code, coupon code, voucher — is a short string that unlocks a specific offer. Codes are used for welcome deals, reloads, free spins, private offers and partner campaigns. The code itself carries no value; it only selects a set of terms. That is why the question to ask about any code is not "does it work?" but "what does it switch on?". This page explains where codes are usually entered, how to check one before using it and why we do not publish codes we cannot verify. Platiin's current codes, where they exist, are shown by the operator itself (example amounts are in euros; the maths is the same in any currency).
Where codes are typically entered
| Place | Used for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Registration form | Welcome and sign-up offers | Cannot be added after the account exists |
| Cashier deposit window | Deposit bonuses and reloads | Must be entered before confirming payment |
| Bonus or promotions section | Free spins, no-deposit offers | Activation may start the deadline |
| Message or email link | Personal offers | Valid only for your account |
Checking a code before you use it
- Source: is it from the operator's own site, your account messages or a partner you trust? Codes copied from forums are often expired or meant for other countries.
- Validity: start and end date, and whether it is single use.
- Eligibility: new players only, existing players only, specific countries, specific payment methods.
- Terms: the code's offer still has its own multiplier, deadline and max bet. Read them as for any bonus — see general bonus terms.
- Spelling: codes can be case-sensitive; type them exactly.
Worked example: two codes for the same deposit
A €40 deposit with two hypothetical codes. Code A gives 200% with 45x on bonus plus deposit. Code B gives 25 free spins at €0.20 with winnings paid in cash.
| Line | Code A | Code B |
|---|---|---|
| Extra value at face | €80 bonus | €5 of spins |
| Required stakes | (€80 + €40) × 45 = €5,400 | none |
| Expected cost at 4% | €216 | none |
| Average result | −€136 | about +€4.80 |
Worked example — not a Platiin term. The 4% edge assumes slots with about 96% RTP.
The bigger-sounding code is the worse one on average. Codes do not change the maths; they only choose which terms apply. Method: wagering requirements.
Why we publish no unverified codes
Many websites list "exclusive codes" that are expired, belong to other countries or never existed. Using one at least wastes time; at worst it means you deposit expecting an offer that is not applied. We would rather send you to the operator's promotions section than print a string we cannot stand behind. If we ever publish a code, it will come with the date we checked it and the terms it unlocks.
Code validity and what "activation" starts
Entering a code is often the moment the clock starts. For free spins and no-deposit offers, activation can begin the expiry countdown and the wagering deadline at once, even if you do not play that day. If you are not ready to play within the window, wait before you enter the code rather than after. Single-use codes usually cannot be re-entered once a bonus is forfeited, so a mistaken activation can cost the offer entirely. When a code is tied to a payment, it normally has to be entered before the payment is confirmed; adding it afterwards rarely works.
Codes and other offers
A code can block another bonus, or another active bonus can block the code. If you have a welcome bonus running, a reload code may be refused until it is complete. Check the stacking rules and, if in doubt, ask support before the deposit. Related pages: welcome bonus, reload bonus and the bonus overview.
