Refer a friend: a reward that depends on someone else
Referral programmes pay you when a person you invite opens an account and meets certain conditions. Sometimes the friend gets a bonus too. It sounds like the simplest offer of all, but it has two features no other bonus has: the condition is fulfilled by another person, and the rules against multiple accounts apply with particular force. This page explains how a referral bonus typically works, what to check before inviting anyone and how to value the reward. Whether Platiin runs such a programme, and on which terms, is stated by the operator (example amounts are in euros; the maths is the same in any currency).
The usual sequence
- You generate a personal referral link or code in your account.
- The friend registers through that link and enters it if required.
- The friend verifies the account and makes a qualifying deposit, sometimes also a qualifying amount of play.
- After a waiting period, the reward is credited — to you, and in some programmes also to the friend.
Terms to read first
| Clause | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Friend's conditions | Deposit amount, play required, deadline for meeting them |
| Reward form | Cash, bonus money with wagering, or free spins |
| Limit on referrals | Maximum number of friends per month or in total |
| Exclusions | Same household, address, device, IP or payment method |
| Where links may be shared | Personal contacts only, or also public channels |
Multi-account rules
The most important clause in any referral programme is the one about multiple accounts. Inviting yourself with a second account, or a partner on the same device and payment card, is a classic bonus abuse pattern. Casinos check addresses, devices and payment details, and a match can lead not only to the referral reward being refused but to both accounts being closed and balances withheld under the general bonus terms. If you want to invite someone in your household, ask support first and keep the answer.
Worked example: valuing an invite friend bonus
Suppose the reward is €30 for you once the friend deposits €20, paid as bonus money with 20x wagering on slots.
- Required stakes: €30 × 20 = €600.
- Expected cost at a 4% house edge: €24.
- Average value of the reward: about €6, not €30.
- If the same €30 were paid as cash, its value would be the full €30.
Worked example — not a Platiin term. All figures are assumptions.
The method is the one on wagering requirements. The friend's own bonus, if there is one, deserves the same calculation — it is fair to tell them what it is really worth.
Your friend's interests
A referral spends a friendship as well as a link. Before inviting someone, consider whether gambling is a good idea for them, and never pressure anyone to deposit so that your reward unlocks. Do not share their personal data with anyone; the casino will ask them directly. Make sure they know about deposit limits and where to find help — responsible gambling has the basics.
Referral limits and timing
Programmes often cap the number of rewarded referrals per month or overall, and they usually pay only after a holding period during which the friend's account is checked. If the friend withdraws immediately or the account is closed for any reason during that period, the reward may be cancelled. Keep this in mind before treating a referral reward as money you already have.
When the reward does not arrive
Typical reasons are that the friend did not use the link at registration, did not complete verification, deposited with an excluded method or below the minimum, or that the waiting period has not passed. Collect the date of registration and the friend's confirmation that they used your link, then contact support. Other offers are compared on the bonus overview; codes are explained under promo codes.
